Alice Poupart

Growing up in France, but endlessly curious about the rest of the world, I determined to travel abroad in my student years. At twenty-two, I started out in a design studio in Hawaii.
On these islands there was a fairly mystical atmosphere, something rather inexplicable. I felt an overpowering need to discover the true source of so much beauty. On the advice of a few friends and colleagues from Hawaii, I traveled to Bali. I rediscovered this atmosphere of peace, though I had never been able to put my yearning into words. I went to Bali, and I stayed.

Meanwhile, I have been fortunate enough to discover Oceania and Indochina.
The experience of such different civilizations provoked endless self-examination. I began to search for “the” perfect way of life. An increasingly urgent need to live with more lightness, freedom and fluidity; greater refinement, too.

It’s when our home becomes a haven of peace, that we can flourish. The body shelters our mind and spirit, and home shelters and nurtures our body. Only when the mind and spirit are free can truly develop. Home should be a place of rest, a source of inspiration, a healing retreat. In our overpopulated, noisy cities, we feel distracted and assaulted by color and variety. Home should be a place to replenish our energy reserves, and find new vitality, harmony and serenity. It should be a place of protection, both materially and psychologically, for body and spirit alike.
